doneI've built a straight open-tread stair for any floor-to-floor height. It loads without errors, its size matches what I expected, and the drawings look right.
**How the default (2700 mm floor to floor) works out:**
- **Risers:** the number of risers is the floor height divided by 180, rounded up. Here that gives 15 equal risers of exactly 180 mm. If the height doesn't divide evenly, the risers come out a little under 180 mm. For example, 3000 mm gives 17 risers of about 176.5 mm.
- **Treads:** there is one tread fewer than there are risers, because the upper floor is the last step. That makes 14 treads, each 280 deep × 900 wide × 40 mm thick (brown). The total going is 3920 mm.
- **Stringers:** two inclined boards, 40 mm thick (olive green), one on each side outside the 900 mm tread width. Each runs from the bottom floor up to the top floor edge, with its top edge 60 mm above the line through the tread fronts.
- **Handrail:** a 45 mm round rail (red), 900 mm above that same line, carried on posts (grey) about every 1.2 m that stand on top of the stringer.
- **Overall size:** about 980 wide × 3940 long × 3620 mm high, including the rail.
**Inputs you can change in the Inputs panel:**
- floor-to-floor height (1000–6000 mm)
- maximum riser (150–220 mm)
- tread depth (220–350 mm)
- stair width (600–1600 mm)
- tread and stringer thickness
- stringer depth
- handrail height
- handrail side (left or right)
The number of risers, the tread count, the total going and the number of posts all update when you change these.
**Limits:**
- The stair is open, with no riser boards.
- The handrail has posts but no balusters or infill between them.
- The parts are separate pieces, not joined into one solid.
- I haven't checked the steepness against any building code. The tread depth stays at whatever you set, so a short maximum riser makes a longer, shallower stair.

promptA straight interior stair for any floor-to-floor height: the number of risers follows the height so that no riser is over 180 mm, treads 280 mm deep and 900 mm wide, two stringers and a handrail on one side. Make the floor-to-floor height an input.
